I don't quite understand the images that are included here...

Though they're interesting and eye-catching.

I feel like they've got something related to the tool... but are they simply for decoration?

The author writes primarily about generative art; most of their articles are explorative and usually demos images generated from code.

My guess is that the images were included in this article to keep with the theme / aesthetics of the blog in general.
